Spiced nuts

about 70 pieces

100g hazel nuts

120g butter

75g sugar

seed from half a vanilla pod

1 tsp chopped coriander

½ tsp very finely chopped fresh ginger root

finely grated skin from half an orange

about 350ml flour

½ tsp baking powder

2 pinches of salt

icing sugar

Grind the hazel nuts finely. Stir sugar and butter and add the ground nuts and spices. Add flour mixed with baking powder. Let the dough rest 1-2 hours. Form beads out of the dough and place them on a parchment covered oven pan.

Bake at 160°C for about 30 minutes in the middle of the oven. Let cool on the pan a few minutes before moving them to an oven grill. Finally, roll them in icing sugar (use a plastic bag).
